Offering affordable/sustainable housing in Southwest Michigan.  Established in 2011, Earthen Heart LLC now offers a private room in the main house for $250/month (a "co-use" fee that helps cover operating costs).  You will be part of a core group that attends to basic homestead activities (rather than trying to do everything by oneself).  There is potential to discuss becoming a co-owner/member of Earthen Heart LLC (the property and business) after one year of paying co-use.  This arrangement is for people who prefer to live simple and connected with nature and have some source of modest income off site.  Personal transportation is extremely helpful as well.  There are opportunities to generate income...

SOLD Next year, 2020, we are planning to sell the 40 acre farm where we have lived and farmed organically for 45 years.  The 2000 square foot house and buildings are well maintained and in good condition.  There are 3  barns and several smaller buildings.  The farm has wind and solar power.
Presently we are grazing 40 ewes and raising hay.  Most of the pasture hasn’t been plowed in 32 years.  Our mulched garden has organic matter content of 10%, and the pastures are 5 to 6% O.M.  The entire farm is fenced.
We want to sell to someone who will continue to use organic practices and enjoy the place as much as we have.

The he National Young Farmers Coalition offers a new Finding Farmland Online Course. With farmland increasingly valued for non-agricultural uses and young farmers citing land access as their top challenge, we're focused on making secure, affordable access to land possible for the next generation of farmers and ranchers. The Finding Farmland Course is a series of nine free lessons that prepare farmers to confidently approach the financial decisions related to land access and acquiring their own farm. This project is a collaboration between Young Farmers and several partner organizations, and was supported by a grant from USDA NIFA's Beginning Farmers and Ranchers Development Program.

20 acres with a 3 bedroom, 2.5 bath house near Bangor, MI. Bangor is situated between South Haven, a very popular resort and boating community, and Kalamazoo, a growing college town.  Fennville, a growing center for sustainable farming, is nearby. Detroit, Chicago, Grand Rapids, Holland, Saugatuck, and St. Joseph/Benton Harbor are all accessible markets.

The property has a mix of soil types, mostly sandy loam according to the US soil survey.  It was used as a homestead at one point, but fell into disuse before I bought it.  There are a couple of fenced paddocks on canarygrass and a neglected blueberry patch (1 acre?) and orchard.  About half of the property is open field that could be seeded or planted as desired.&...
